Understanding Your Awning Warranty

Replacement page copy — item 3 from the website audit

When purchasing an awning or outdoor living system, most homeowners naturally focus on the product, the fabric, the design and the features. However, it’s also worth understanding the warranty that supports your investment — and knowing exactly what’s covered, for how long.

Your warranty, in numbers

Every Weinor awning we supply comes with:

  • 10 years on the arms and fabric
  • 2 years on the hardware and motor, as standard from Weinor

We then upgrade that hardware and motor cover, free of charge, to a full 5 years — so you’re never left with a short manufacturer warranty on the moving parts.

On top of the product warranty, every installation we carry out is backed by our own 5-year Installation Services Warranty, covering our workmanship. We’re also fully insured with NFU, with public liability cover up to £10 million, for complete peace of mind while we’re working on your property.

Why warranties matter

A quality awning is designed to provide many years of enjoyment. A warranty forms part of that long-term confidence — it demonstrates a commitment to quality, and it means that if something genuinely goes wrong within the covered period, you’re protected.

A warranty is not the same as maintenance

A warranty typically addresses manufacturing or product-related concerns — for example, a fault with the motor or a defect in the fabric. Routine care, cleaning, and sensible operation remain important responsibilities for the owner, and aren’t covered by warranty. This is perfectly normal, and applies to any awning from any supplier.

Why documentation matters

It’s always worth retaining:

  • Product information
  • Warranty information
  • Installation documentation
  • User instructions

These documents can be useful throughout ownership, particularly if you ever need to make a warranty claim.

Looking after the system

Simple habits help support long-term performance. Examples include:

  • Sensible operation
  • Awareness of weather conditions
  • Basic cleaning
  • Prompt attention to concerns

Looking after the system properly helps maximise enjoyment and performance, and keeps it in the best possible condition for the full length of its warranty.

The good news

Most homeowners never need to make a warranty claim. Quality products, professional installation, and sensible ownership usually provide years of reliable service — backed, in our case, by cover that goes well beyond the manufacturer’s own standard terms.

Our Warranty Commitment

We work with premium manufacturers and trusted installation partners to ensure every project is completed to the highest standards. The warranties below are designed to provide confidence and peace of mind in your investment.

Fabric Warranty – 10 Years

The awning fabric supplied with your installation is covered by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Accidental damage
  • Improper use or misuse
  • Damage caused by extreme weather conditions
  • Failure to follow recommended maintenance procedures

LongLife Arm Warranty – 10 Years

Where applicable, Weinor LongLife arms are covered by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. These high-performance components are engineered for durability and reliable operation throughout their service life.

The warranty applies to manufacturing defects and material failures occurring during normal use.

Motors and Hardware Warranty – 5 Years

Motors, controls, sensors, and associated hardware are covered by a 5-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

This includes:

  • Electric motors
  • Remote control systems
  • Weather sensors
  • Control units and associated hardware

Coverage is subject to proper use, installation, and maintenance.

Installation Services Warranty – 5 Years

Cambridge Awnings provides a 5-year Installation Services Warranty covering workmanship associated with the installation of your awning, pergola, or outdoor living system.

This warranty covers installation-related defects resulting from workmanship issues carried out by our approved installation team.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Structural movement of buildings
  • Damage caused by third parties
  • Alterations made after installation
  • Weather-related damage beyond the product’s design limitations

Maintenance Responsibilities

Regular maintenance helps maximise the performance and lifespan of your awning or pergola.

We recommend:

  • Keeping the fabric clean and free from debris
  • Removing leaves and dirt from moving parts and drainage areas
  • Inspecting visible fixings periodically
  • Following manufacturer care instructions
  • Allowing fabric to dry before retracting whenever possible
  • Arranging professional servicing when recommended

Failure to maintain the product appropriately may affect warranty coverage.

Weather Guidance

Our products are designed to enhance outdoor living, but they are not intended to withstand all weather conditions.

Wind

Retractable awnings should be retracted during strong winds or when the property is unattended.

Where wind sensors are installed, they provide additional protection but should not be relied upon as a substitute for responsible operation.

Rain

Many awnings can tolerate light rain when installed with the correct pitch. However, pooling water can cause damage and should be avoided.

Always follow the specific guidance provided for your product.

Snow and Ice

Awnings and pergola roofs should not be subjected to snow loading or ice accumulation unless specifically designed and approved for such conditions.

Extreme Weather

Products should be protected during severe weather events, including storms, unusually high winds, heavy snowfall, and other extreme conditions.

Weather-related damage resulting from use outside the product’s intended operating conditions may not be covered under warranty.

Making a Warranty Claim

If you believe your product has developed a fault covered under warranty, please contact Cambridge Awnings as soon as possible.

To help us assess your claim, please provide:

  • Your name and address
